ABOUT ME

local SEO case studies: Strategy first.
Then the work

I’m Forkan Mahmud, an SEO specialist based in Muscat, Oman. I work on two things that usually go together: getting local businesses to show up on Google Maps, and planning websites so that every page has a clear job in search.

I have been doing this for more than four years. At SERP Panda I run client delivery as a project manager. On the side I take freelance work for local and international businesses, on WordPress, Wix and Shopify sites.
I try to prove my work with numbers you can check yourself: grid-based map rankings, keyword positions in Semrush, and traffic in GA4 and Search Console. That is why this portfolio is full of real screenshots.

“I do not sell theory. I use a data-driven process that generates verifiable results.”

WHAT I DO

Services, in plain words

Everything on this page is something I have done for a paying client. Together it covers the road from “nobody can find us” to “the phone keeps ringing”.

Google Business Profile

Right categories, clean service names, service areas, a complete profile, regular posts and geotagged photos. This is the base of Google Maps visibility.

Map rank tracking

I scan a grid of real points around your area, so you see where customers can find you and where they cannot, month after month.

Citations and NAP

Your name, address and phone number made identical across trusted directories, duplicates removed, new listings built where they matter.

Reviews

A steady flow of genuine reviews, supported with a simple process. Volume, quality and freshness all feed local rankings.

Keyword research

Search intent research in Semrush, then each keyword gets its own page so your pages stop competing with each other.

On-page and technical SEO

Titles, headings, internal links, schema and technical fixes so Google can read and understand the site without friction.

Content and topical maps

Content briefs, blog posts and topical maps planned around how people search and how Google connects topics.

Audits and reporting

Audits that say what to fix first, and a monthly GA4 and Search Console report tied to traffic and enquiries.

Industries I have worked in

Roofing · Skip hire · Cleaning · Pest control · Airport transfers · Healthcare · Therapy · Education · Daycare · Restaurants · E-commerce · Automotive · Recreation rentals · Legal · Digital marketing · Finance

HOW I WORK

My process, step by step

The same five steps sit behind every result in this portfolio. Fix the foundation, build trust, then measure real rankings so the growth is visible.

1

Audit and research

I look at the Google Business Profile, the website structure, citations, reviews and the competitors. I research keywords and search intent and take a baseline ranking scan, so every later result has a real starting point to be compared with.
2

Build the foundation

Primary category and service names, service areas, profile completeness, technical health of the site and the keyword-to-page map. Nothing else works well without this layer.
3

Strengthen local relevance

The website and the profile need to say clearly what the business does and where it works. That means on-page work, location signals, internal links and content written for local search intent.
4

Build trust and authority

Citations with consistent NAP, genuine reviews coming in steadily, and a profile that stays active with posts and geotagged photos.
5

Track, report, adjust

Rankings are tracked on a map grid and in Semrush, traffic in GA4 and Search Console. Each month you get a clear report and the next priorities come from the data.

What working with me looks like

You always know the plan.

What is being done, why, and what comes next.

You see evidence.

Map grids, ranking screenshots and analytics instead of promises.

Every deliverable is checked.

Search intent, target keywords and site structure are reviewed before anything goes live.

Roofing contractor: #1 on the map across 165 sq km

New Boston, Ohio, USA  |  Delivered through SERP Panda  |  Scanned Jan 20, 2026
Google Maps grid rank scan showing Mr. Roofer ranking #1 with a 1.51 average across 165 sq km in New Boston, Ohio
KEYWORD

“roofing contractor near me”

~368,000

Monthly searches

$27.20

Cost per click

GRID

9 x 9 points, 165.52 sq km

The situation

Roofing is one of the most competitive and expensive local markets in the US. “Roofing contractor near me” has a keyword difficulty of 54 and costs $27.20 a click in Google Ads. The businesses that own the Map Pack get those same high-value leads without paying per click.
The client needed to own the map across a wide service radius, not only around their own street.

The problem

Expensive paid clicks. Every 100 clicks would cost about $2,720, and the leads stop when the budget does.
A crowded market. A Plus Roofing, Advanced Roofing Solutions and Blu Build were all after the same searches.
A very wide area. The business serves about 165 sq km, so ranking near the office was never enough.

What I did

Google Business Profile optimization

Set the correct primary category, cleaned up keyword-focused service names and defined the full service area.

Local relevance

Built content and location signals that tie the business to the whole target region.

Citations and NAP consistency

Corrected and built consistent name, address and phone data across trusted directories.

Reviews and engagement

Grew review velocity and kept the profile active with geotagged photos and posts.

The results

1.51

average map rank

100%

Top 3 visibility

Average Google Maps rank (lower is better)

Client (Mr. Roofer): 1.51
A Plus Roofing: 2.64
Advanced Roofing Solutions: 2.67
Blu Build, Ltd: 5.88
How to read the grid. The number in each circle is the client’s position for someone searching from that exact spot. An average of 1.51 over 81 spots means the business shows at or very near the top almost everywhere in the area.
Outcome. The client now captures the highest-value roofing searches organically, across the whole region, without paying $27.20 every time someone clicks.

Skip hire company: a perfect #1 grid across the whole service area

Sheerness, Kent, UK  |  Delivered through SERP Panda  |  Tracked Jun 1, 2026
Local SEO heatmap showing Sheerness Skip & Grab Hire ranking #1 at all 39 points on the Isle of Sheppey, Kent
CLIENT

Sheerness Skip & Grab Hire

KEYWORD

“skip hire”

REVIEWS

63 at 5 stars

GRID

39 points, Isle of Sheppey

The situation

Sheerness Skip & Grab Hire is a family-run waste and haulage firm on the Isle of Sheppey. They supply skips and grab hire to homes, builders and businesses in Sheerness, Queenborough, Minster and Halfway Houses.
They already had a great reputation, 63 Google reviews at a full 5 stars. The goal was to turn that trust into a steady flow of booking calls by owning the local map for their main service.

The problem

Skip hire is a “search now, book now” trade. People search, call the first firm or two on the map, and book the same day. Position is everything.
A customer in Queenborough sees a different map from one in Minster, and regional firms plus lead-selling sites fight for the same top spots. To catch every booking the business had to be number one across the whole island.

What I did

A strong Google Business Profile

Corrected the primary category, wrote clean keyword-led service names, set accurate service areas and completed the profile.

Reviews and reputation

Supported a steady flow of genuine reviews, now 63 at a full 5 stars.

Citations and NAP

Made name, address and phone match everywhere online, cleared duplicate listings and built profiles on UK trade directories.

Local relevance

Made the website clearly tell Google what the business does and where it serves.

A technically clean site

Removed technical friction so the local pages could rank without obstacles.

The results

1.0

average ranking position

39/39

locations ranking #1

0

locations in the medium or low tiers

63

Google reviews, all 5 stars

In plain terms. Wherever a customer searches across the area, the business shows first on the map. A perfect grid.
Why it matters. The map pack drives the calls, and in a fast-booking trade like skip hire the first result wins most of them. Ranking first across the whole service area means the customer reaches you before they see a competitor.

Family home daycare: from page 5 to the Top 5 in 30 days

Waterbury, Connecticut, USA  |  Delivered through SERP Panda  |  January 2026

Local SEO

TIMEFRAME

START

Google page 5-6

The problem: great care, hard to find

The client relied entirely on word of mouth.
She was competing with large commercial centers with big marketing budgets.
Searching “Daycare in Waterbury CT”, her site was buried on page 5 or 6 of Google.
The goal: more local visibility, fast, to fill open spots without paying for ads.

The approach

I skipped generic terms like “best childcare” and went after high-intent local keywords, the exact phrases parents type when they want to tour a daycare now.

What I did

Technical fixes

Made sure Google could read the site properly.

Keyword mapping

Targeted terms such as “Daycare in Waterbury CT” and “Waterbury Daycare”.

Local intent

Optimized content to show she is a local provider, not a national chain.

The results

86.4%

Organic visibility, before and after

Semrush organic keywords trend. Flat for a long time, then a sharp rise into January 2026.

The rankings

These are the Page 1 positions secured for her most valuable keywords.
local SEO case studies - Semrush organic keywords chart showing a family daycare in Waterbury,
Day care in Waterbury CT#4
Daycare in Waterbury CT#5
Daycare Waterbury#5
Waterbury Daycare#10

Why this matters to daycare owners

Trust. Parents trust organic results more than ads. A Top 5 spot reads as a reputable local option.
Cost. The traffic is free. With ads you pay for every click, here the rankings work around the clock.
Speed. Many owners expect 6 to 12 months. With high-intent local keywords, movement showed in 30 days.
Result. The client is now getting calls from parents who found her on Google.
A fair note. Thirty days is a fast example, not a promise. How quickly a site moves depends on competition and on the shape the site is in when we start. I give a realistic estimate after the audit.

QUESTIONS CLIENTS ASK

Frequently asked questions

It depends on how competitive your market is and what shape your profile and website are in today. The daycare in this portfolio moved from page 5-6 to the Top 5 in 30 days, but that is one of the faster examples. After the audit I give you a realistic range for your own case.
No, and be careful with anyone who does. Google decides the rankings. What I can promise is a clear plan, steady work on the things that move rankings, and honest tracking so you always see where you stand.
A normal rank check shows one position from one place. A grid scan checks your Google Maps position from many points around your service area, for example 81 points over 165 sq km. It shows exactly where you win and where customers still cannot find you.
Manager access to your Google Business Profile, access to your website, your list of services and service areas, and the competitors you already know about. If you have GA4 or Search Console, access to those helps too.
WordPress, Wix, Shopify and custom-coded sites. The projects in this portfolio include all of them.
No. Local SEO and GBP work is my main strength, but I also do keyword research, on-page and technical SEO, content briefs and topical maps for full websites.
Yes. You get a monthly report from GA4 and Google Search Console, plus ranking data from map grids and Semrush, with the next priorities written out.
Yes. Most of the clients in this portfolio are in the US and UK, with others in Australia and elsewhere. I work remotely and keep in touch by email and WhatsApp.
